Thursday’s regatta was quite breezy, with winds at the start in the 6-10mph range. Winds varied throughout the afternoon, but did not pick up as forecasted, and for the most part, settled down in the later stages of racing.
12 races were sailed, all 1 lap. There were 2 throw-outs per skipper.
This is going to sound like a broker record, but as usual, Jerry Robertson started with a bang, winning the first 2 races. Bob got it together and tied it up after 6 races and then pulled out ahead, winning 4 of the final 6 races to hold on for the win.
Dave McVey was 3rd, with 3 second place and 5 third place finishes, beating Jerry twice and Bob once. John Malmberg was 4th, sitting out 2 of the races, with a second and 3 thirds. Bill Brown, also missing 2 of the races was a close 5th. New member Ken Gibson was 6th and Jim Malmberg was 7th.
Bob Spraker 13
Jerry Robertson 15
Dave McVey 29
John Malmberg 40
Bill Brown 43
Ken Gibson 51
Jim Malmberg 57
Skipper of the day was Dave McVey. Dave had a number of great starts, was challenging the 2 leaders in just about every race and pretty much dominated the rest (except Bob & Jerry) of the fleet. Great job Dave!!
